Our Approach
Academic Planning
We help students create a detailed four-year projected academic plan that addresses every important topic and question outlined in the Academic Planning section. This plan, which includes eight semesters of actual courses offered by the school, serves as a framework for course selection each term, and ensures that the student know exactly how to accomplish all their academic goals, while graduating in four years.
When developing this plan, we review all relevant academic policies, degree requirements, and course offerings. We also identify all the on-campus advising specialists who should become part of the student’s advising team.
Although the official college advising process is not proactive, there are many advisors on every campus who are specialists and experts within their fields. These advisors are ready and willing to help students who are organized and proactive enough to seek them out.
We coach the student on how to recruit a dream team of these advisors on their campus.
Career Planning & Development
Career planning begins with course selection, even for students who don’t have a clear idea of the career they want to pursue after graduation. Therefore, we address this issue proactively when the academic plan is designed.
In addition to academic planning, there are many career-related resources and opportunities available to students on every college campus.
Career service departments offer many programs and service that help prepare students for career success. They help students clarify goals, explore strengths, set expectations, connect with mentors, and build professional networks, to name just a few of their offerings.
Navigating the career development and job-hunting processes can be overwhelming and intimidating, and most students fail to engage early enough with career service departments to maximize the benefits.
We identify all the available campus resources and develop an action plan to tap into them early and often.
Co-Curricular & Extracurricular Planning
Co-curricular and extracurricular activities, programs, and learning experiences complement and supplement what students are learning in the classroom. Most Importantly, they help students develop many of the soft skills that are highly valued by employers.
Students have many options when it comes to customizing their on-campus experience. Programs are offered which encourage students’ involvement in experiences outside of the classroom that will expand their horizons, enrich their lives, and develop skills not addressed within the standard curriculum.
These special programs also help students become more connected to campus. This connectedness is especially important because, as the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment reminds us, “student learning is not the result of discrete experiences but rather the product of many different kinds of experiences in and outside of the classroom over an extended period of time.”
Unfortunately, busy students often overlook many co-curricular and extracurricular programs and activities.
